Thanks for all those, Scott. I've put together the SWP and it's all worked out pretty well.

One compromise I think we're going to have to make - in order to make the illuminated lenses blend in reasonably, we may have to go without the red letters on black, and use something more resembling the replacements with black lettering on illuminated plastic. Not sure yet, but if so, it's not really a massive deal if it will look better when actually operating. Hopefully we'll find out soon!

That compromise was not necessary, in fact - I found a better way to do the modelling, and can indeed do red illuminated lettering on black.

Unfortunately, I've made a rather more serious error - I used the AWP faceplate as the basis for the layout, and only just realised that while the AWP has fourteen indicators, the SWP has sixteen :( So a major modification is required, and one that will not be at all easy because of the varying degrees of useability in the photos...

This is not turning out to be my day. Anyhoo, here's a screenie of the (inaccurate) SWP with all lamps lit:

Pfft. Update - what I've done is confuse the AWP and SWP. I've actually modelled the AWP, but with too few lamps as I used the faceplate from the SWP.

I'll fix it some other day.

Hi bud!

Sorry to hear about the confusion - but it is looking fabulous! Well done!

I've made good progress with the logic behind each lamp, but still a bit to do.

Nice work.

Same warning panel can be used in the Wessex, so don't bin it.

No binning planned, there will just end up being two - one fourteen lamp and one sixteen lamp - no doubt it appears on other aircraft of the period too. I'll try and make the associated script as interchangeable as possible.

Hi Algy,

This page may help just confirm which panel is which etc..

www.scottbouch.com/English-Electric-Lightning-T5-cockpit.html

And this (also note the hinge and latch are on opposite sides between the two panels):

NOTE!! "Trim" at some point was re-labelled as "A/P"!

My 1986 flight Ref cards have "A/P". XS458 has "AP" from when it left service in 1988.
The above image of "TRIM" was from a 1973 manual.

This video also gives a feel of them in their original look form a few years ago, but the lettering paint had been flaking a bit:

This video here will show how the AWP lights go out on a startup:

Cheers, Scott.

Please download from here the worked out logic of the AWP and SWP indicator lamps:

http://www.scottbouch.com/English-Electric-Lightning-technical-resource/ee-lightning-t5-awp-swp-lamp-logic.ods

This is all based on info gleaned from technical AP's, flight ref cards, aircrew manual, and videos. There may still be a hole or two, but I'd say I'm 99% confident on it.

Cheers, Scott.

Thanks, Scott. I'll try and grab it at some point over the weekend. I've got even less development time than usual in December - it's a super busy month for me with barely a whole day free - but I'll read what you've done and start thinking about the scripting.
