External Lighting

Hi, just to polish up the great looking external lighting, only one observation:

The two rear lights either side of the No1 jet pipe and the one on top of the spine need a slight rework.. they only shine backwards.

Their housings are clear at the rear, and covered at the front.

Roger that - that's what SHOULD be happening on the two stern whites... is it not for you?

And the top anti-coll is rear facing, yes? That can be done...

Here we go...

You can see the bulb here, it sits within the frontal shrouded area, so only shines backward:

Same for the tail lamps, the bulb is under the shrouded part, so shines mainly rearward:

Watching the YouTube video, they seemed to fade away when looking at the rear, when they should be bright.

Yeah, the animation that makes them grow (so to stay visible longer) as the aircraft recedes wasn't working properly. Now fixed.

So, what's the intention of that configuration with the spine anti-coll being covered forward? Is it so that, in profile, it can work as a sort of formation light arrangement - if you see two level with each other, you're in front, two above each other means in profile, and three means you're aft?

You must be right, I can't think of other reasons..

I've just read in the Aircrew Manual about formation flying, and these lights, and there is no definitive answer to their philosophy!

Guess it's time to ask some ex-pilots!
