A cracking idea

I'm making a patch to fill in the huge gap in the scenery around our home tile. It's gonna be huuuuge.

The model is about 11x14km but only 21k at the moment. Even when completed it should be less than 100k. Anyway, I'll crack on with it B)

Are you using polyfiller or fiberglass?

Cracked it! Texturing is far from great but better than the gaping hole. Anyway, if people are moving to the CPU-melting scenery it's not going to be needed anyway.

Files are at drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B--Hs57yKe7CS0tXWi1FNmlyZnc

Insert forCrack.png and tileGrout.ac into wherever_you_put/EGOD/Objects/w010n50/w005n52/

and then add the following line to 2876339.stg with a text editor

OBJECT_STATIC tileGrout.ac -4.0000001 52.7500001 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0

It's not GPU melting even if you manage the LOD settings.
These give me about 25 FPS over the rooftops of Central
London.

--prop:double:/sim/rendering/static-lod/detailed=1500 \
--prop:double:/sim/rendering/static-lod/rough=6000 \
--prop:/sim/rendering/max-paged-lod=10000 \

The last property is explained here:
wiki.flightgear.org/PagedLOD

Can't tell much difference if the value is 1000 or 10000 though.
