Royal Air Force Centenary Flight Saturday 21st July 2018
Now that the RAF have shown us how it's done, it's FGUK's turn to celebrate one hundred years of the Royal Air Force. This will be a flight starring both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, and will comprise of two "rounds" of flypast over Buckingham Palace, each taking around 45 mins, so that you can fly a different aircraft before and after the halfway break. Each round will comprise four "waves" - helicopters, warbirds, heavies and then fighters. We'll be ambitiously trying to form up and pass over the Palace at roughly the same time - the chances are, we'll fail hilariously, but it will hopefully be fun trying!
The usual rules apply - I will elaborate slightly on this later. In the meantime, please choose one or two aircraft from the FGUK hangar which fit somewhere into the four waves. If you're picking something unusal, please let us know so we can download well in advance. If you're not sure if it's appropriate, please ask, and dependent on your aircraft, please make sure you spawn at the right place, on the right runway.
Please post your thoughts on aircraft you'd like to take - just to clarify, you can stick with one aircraft or one wave if you prefer, or you can change halfway through, when we land for a 10 min break.
Absolutely there were, and absolutely it's legal - I'll be happy if we have more than one aircraft in each class "wave" and I'm hoping there will be a few helicopters who haven't spoken up yet, so we're getting there
I'll try & talk to the missus about attending, I'd like to fly the Lancaster if I can make it - not sure what I would fly for the second wave - I take it we are sticking to what was in the official flypast?
