Flightnight May19 - Italian Volcano Observation!

13 May 2018 00:42 - 17 May 2018 11:02 #38487 by Vodoun da Vinci
Sorry. Uncle VooDoo is stuck in FGFS 2018.1.1 mode and Volcano's and all that. :silly:

We'll meet at 9pm London Time at ICAO: LICA - di Lamezia Terme in Italy. Please bring a chopper of your choice that can maintain 11,000 feet and 130 KIAS. We'll be departing our starting point and fly across water for about 25 minutes to observe Mt. Stromboli. After the observation we'll be viewing the plethora of small islands adjacent to the volcano and landing for fuel and refreshment somewhere near Malfa

We will then head for our final airport destination of ICAO: LICC on the island of Sicily. On the way we will observe Mt. Etna which is spectacular.

Comms on TeamSpeak as always and please link to any choppers not in the FGUK hangars so as to avoid Blue Gliders. Please be prompt and I hope to see as many pilots as possible!

See you there!

That's Mount Etna, Sicily. I know it cause I've visited it yesterday night after the FlightNight.

I'll probably use the Stallion again, had great fun with it yesterday.

I can make this one! What's the latest upgrades to the Merlin like? Does it make it any easier for a shocking chopper n00b like me to take to a volcano area?

Choice update: I'll probably use the Merlin since I've been impressed by it on Sunday or the SVT Cobra :P . Else, it will still be something from the hangar.

I like the Merlin a lot but I'm not sure it's a good one for a newbie chopper aficionado. Then again I fly with a mouse and keyboard soooo.....

Takin' to me?
I can't claim I'm a good heli pilot nor I can say I usually fly them, even after almost 6 years being around, but after buying the new joystick setup and running latest Fg versions (and progress in the FDMs too) things have become way easier than they've been before.
Again, I need a HOTAS and pedals for flying decently, you are good just by using mouse and keyboard so respect is due here.

More referring to Algernon's question about the suitability of the Merlin for a newish chopper pilot. It's pretty easy but not....easy. It'll bite if mismanaged.

Stromboli fly by. Pretty cool....

Oh, read through the topic quickly and because I've mentioned the Merlin too I thought that.
Nice shot there though! B)

Added these few hangars at LICA to Terrasync in the hope they'll be approved and uploaded in time for tomorrow:
