Finally I have my own Lotus Elise to drive around. I spent a bunch of time bombing around EGOD and running the runways as fast as she would go!

What a blast. My very own Lotus Elise and a Lotus Exige in the works!!
We need to have a land vehicle FGUK FlightNight and drive somewhere fun and exciting like maybe the Autobahn. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Fun, fun, fun, FuN, FUN!!!

I’ve done around 186 mph in the air solo. No wings, no engines, just me.

Bwahahaha!

So what's the FDM going on in your Lotus, VooDoo? I've never yet settled on a solution for land vehicles, although I have a glut of unfinished cars in my hangar - the most advances is the Knight Industries 2000, but I also have the DeLorean from Back to the Future that actually does go back in time...

All my cars run on a YASim basis, but it's not very good and I've been meaning to try and enhance it for ages. Would be interested to know how your Lotus works, and how well it works too...

Mine runs on a nicked FDM (JSBsim) from Stu's Land Rover. It's in The Cloud in daVinci Aircraft as daVinci_Elise.zip

Chosen no doubt because of the obvious performance and handling similarities between a Lotus and a Landie... :silly: ;)

I must have a crack at doing the same thing with the Knight Industries 2000. The YASim turbine-driven FDM is just a death trap.

Might be time to mod the Camaro to add some extra HP and do some drag racin' against it at EGOD ahah.
Good job there, not a Lotus lover but good looking car indeed!

daVinci_Elise 2.0 uploaded to The Cloud which now includes wheel animations over MP and Brake/Head Lamps over MP as well.

Mostly I grabbed this FDM because it makes the car move and drive without reinventing the wheel - FDM's for me are a lot like Blender. I can fool around with them and often tweak things to get closer to what I want but ultimately the fine art of an FDM or Blender eludes me.

If the car rolls/steers/stops then the FDM is good enough for me for now.

Absolutely sir - I was being super-facetious, I know how tricky it is to get any ground vehicle even resolving as an FDM, let alone working, from personal experience...

I had a good time figuring out how to get the wheels turning, brake lights, and such view able over MP last evening after Stuart discovered these things were not transferring over MP.

I learn a lot from manic episodes like this...grabbing a cool 3D model that is free/available and then "making it go" in a way that gives me giggles. I'm not a FlightGear Developer but I play one on TV *and* I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. :woohoo:

Over the years of learning to make what I want and animate, instrument, and fly/drive them I have now accumulated a couple dozen cool projects....someday I need to upload all this stuff to the daVinci Aircraft Folder in The Cloud 'cause an awful lot of it is very much fun if one does not expect "perfection" or a specific level of "things done the right way" and "finished".

Lots of cool stuff lives on my computer from Spacecraft like the daVinci_Wraith and daVinci_Battlecruiser to cars and aircraft like the daVinci_Meridian, daVinci_Batcat, and daVinci_SU-24M.

None of it is "done" nor does it stand up to scrutiny but, still, it's a lot of fun for simple minds like mine that are easily amused. :)

I love my manic episodes. Or rather, loved them - I don't seem to get them as intensely now, if at all. And I haven't had a really bad crash/depressive episode for months now.

I really hope I'm not "better" :(
