daVinci Lockheed 10E Electra Deleted/Recalled

fguk.eu/index.php/hangar/download/6-civi...lockheed-electra-10e

This one needs a lot of work yet but she flies *SOOOO* nice due to Stuarts FDM and looks *SoOoO* good due to Gary's livs that it had to be released as is. This is V1.0 and the next update (soon) will give updated lights and rain effects as well as animated cockpit.

Get it while it's hot as we will be adding this to a FlightNight Adventure as well with the Cessna T-50 Bobcat.

Have fun!

Sweet like Tupelo honey!

Found a couple of minor things. Fixed livery XMLs - 2 surfaces in every paint pointed to the same file. As per Cessna T-50, I implemented the new splashscreen system plus 3 pics. Pics should be improved on by next release.

The V1.01 is HERE

Also tweaked a liv inconsistency on the FGUK one to get the paint strip on the door lining up properly.

Also have notes / research on paint for an RAF one - will dig deeper and see if I can squeeze this paint out.

Gary, to update the download, you just need to replace the zip, like for like, as long as you don't change the filename.zip it will update the existing link without having to relink everything all over again.

Thanks Gary...so, is the public download updated or do I need to do that?

Its not updated. Garys upload is a separate zip. It needs reuploaded as the same filename as the original.

Lockheed 10E public download is the Latest Greatest - having "issues" with the T-50 so I'm re uploading the Latest Greatest and fixing the public download link.

Finger crossed.

Look for the daVinci Meridian this weekend for public release.

On Linux I get no livery (all white) and it magically moves backwards while engine is not even running.
Haven't tried flying it yet....

Greetings!

I have no way to test on Linux and would have no way of solving this. Insufficient skills at Development. :pinch:

The all-white livery is probably due to the issues with filename cases which I reported aboveā€¦

Ive done it. It will need testing before going live though.

F-JMB,

since your script seems to do everything but the actual renaming
of the files in the wrong case. Do you think you could develop it
to cover that part too?

Cheers,

Tried it and get many failures :(
There are so many missing files. No livery works...
Often its the case sensitivity of Linux!

Cheers,

I'm not sure I could rename the files. The problem is that the wrong case may be in the folder name and there may be correct references to other files in the same folder (or for that matter, there may be other references to the same file with the correct case), so renaming the file and its parent folders may break those other references.

I'll see what I can do to automatically fix the references in the *.xml and *.ac files. Note however that this part won't work on Windows (the script itself should run on Windows even if I haven't tested it, but it won't see that the files are wrongly-cased).

I am always willing to test on Linux. I just need access to the development version.
Could I have that script? Would be nice to see how it works and maybe I could also try to look into possibilities to rename.
But I agree that the script can not know whether to correct a reference in a xml/ac file or to change the file name. If you change the file name but actually the problem is in the xml/ac some other files might reference the old file name and get corrupted....

In an ideal world there should be a naming convention in flightgear.....

The script is available here . It requires Python 2.7 (already installed by most Linux distributions). There is a --help option, but the short of it is:
python2 checkpath -r /path/to/the/Aircraft/folder -d /path/to/the/FG/data/folder folder_name

for example, for the Lockheed 10E I ran:
python2 checkpath -r . -d /usr/share/flightgear/data daVinci_Lockheed10E

Ok, thanks a lot!

Unfortunately I have not yet programmed any Python, but once I have some time on my hands, I'll look into it. At first glance it looks quite sophisticated! At least I will learn something...

hans05,

take the MIT lectures. Seems easy enough. I'm in the middle of going it through myself as well.
