This is an instrument approach normally flown in bad weather although can be flown in good weather for practice. After requesting this approach its up to the controller to give you vectors and descents until you are established on the ILS localiser. At some point you should also pass your
type of approach
to the controller
The 2 things you'll be asked to report by the controller are "report localiser established", once you are then your responsible for getting yourself to the runway using the ILS . "report glidepath descending gear down", this is once you have began your descent on the ILS and have put your gear down (RAF mil ac normally do both together), the controller will in return give you a clearance for the approach you requested.
