Please welcome Dave, our new ATC adviser and Global Moderator

I'm pleased to announce that, as of yesterday, in line with FGUK's ongoing objective to create a rich and varied multiplayer experience, has asked long-time participant RAFDave to join the admin team as a Global Moderator alongside Neilson and TheBroons. He will specifically be advising in a professional capacity on our experiments with ATC, and will moderate this dedicated ATC forum.

I'm sure you'll all join me in congratulating him, and I also hope you'll join the conversations we'll now start to have about ATC experimentation within FGUK.

Flying in controlled airspace over Europe was how I started with the Flightgear multiplayer about two years ago, so I'm really pleased to hear we will have some people dedicated to this area :)

Congratulations :cheer:

Yes, we've decided that this is quite an exciting path for us to try more focus on, based on military procedures, which Dave points out in another post suits us most. Coupled with a drive for improved radio navigation support in our aircraft, there are opportunities for another type of fun here for those up for it.

We're making it clear, though, that this is voluntary participation in exercises and compliance is neither expected nor demanded. Most of us are opposed to uninvited controller communication, and believe everyone reserves the right to decline an MP interaction. It'll most likely take place in arranged sessions, perhaps on Sunday evenings. We hope that practice and an improved choice of nav equipment will then make flying into controlled airports in Europe a more pleasant and realistic experience for those that choose to do it.

There will be more about this in due course, I am way off topic here (sorry), but I'm quite excited about the possibilities :)

Still can't forget that ATC: "HOLY SHIT!" moment from the TSR2 flight
