Hey y'all,

Been doing some extraneous painting for a mix of stuff in Helijah's Hangar.

Westland Whirlwind - bunch of new livs now appended into latest model
Fairey Gannet - bunch of live submitted, awaiting posting
Carreidas 160 (fantasy bizjet supersonic) - bunch of new livs now appended into latest model
Short SC7 Skyvan - 6 new livs (civil and military) submitted today.

This Skyvan liv should get the young 'ins into FG! :woohoo:

A sporadic assemblage of some of the others…

And then of course Detlef's Sunderland… (work in progress)

Enjoy! ;)

Little one is sat next to me as I was looking at this. He now wants to fly the Nemo plane, so I guess that's a big thumbs up from him.

That Sunderland looks flipping excellent by the way.

Quick update:

The Gannet should be updated today or tomorrow in helijah's hangar.
The Skyvan also is undergoing some updates, so the new livs will not get posted until it's done. However, if there's interest, I can post a livpack here. The contents would be Loganair (I can see a quasi-smile-grimace from Stu... :P ), British Airways (retro, not long after BEA consolidation), Austrian AF (4 Flug), Ghana AF, "Nemo" by Pink Aviation, and a fictitious skydiving outfit.

Lemme know…

;)

PS On another front, should we have menu options of "Military Liveries" and "Civil Liveries"? Only asking because this seems like a good Q if I post these up, and of course that it's been brought up before to be more civil… (sorry, couldn't help it :woohoo: ) to pull in more widespread interest in the site. Comments?

It's certainly the right time to be asking questions like that, anyway, as it looks like we'll be initiating the transition to FGUK Site V2.0 very soon indeed. My opinion is, yes, separate hangar categories for civil and military livs is probably a good idea, particularly if we (eventually) create a more tangible division between the two spheres on the website.

Latest dabbling….no surprises here I'm guessing' :woohoo:

This is the YASIM version from helijah's hangar, NOT the jsbsim P38L Gerard Robin model.

Happy that I've finally gotten to a place of relative happiness about the rendition of the aluminum skin! :cheer:

Post-Turkey Day aka Thanksgiving, I will probably gun out a few.

They will be no doubt incorporated into the helijah hangar version in a bit.

@ VooDoo - you mentioned having a "tweaked" FDM for this beast. Can I has it :) ?

I even have this liv below, amended to keep the sclerotic legal beagles at bay…

Enjoy! ;)

Errr, the Wessex is different in many ways from the S58. most noticable is the chin on the Wessex.

And…

…anytime you have the updated EFA 2000 texture ready, I'll grab that bastard too!

Thoughts for the Typhoon…

1. Make 2 dev builds - one "traditional" and one to test out your custom decal application.

2. Mad thought - this stems off the technique shown by Petar Jedvaj where different livery selections bring up or remove parts of the model (see RAH66 Comanche). How different is the Tranche 2? Is it only fuselage shape? I wonder if it is possible to switch that out dependent on livery selection?

3. The above - thoughts on doing similar with the Victor?

Feh….good enough for gov't work… ;)

But if it truly rankles, I see no reason why a Westland Wessex FGUK ver. shouldn't be considered. After all, I know just the man whose good at that…. :woohoo:

That's you voluntold!

If I can find a suitable donor model then all that needs done is replacing the exisying fuselage with the proper one.
Thats IF I can find a donor.

That'll take rather longer, it's a bit of a bugger, and the EF2000 is currently highly experimental anyway, with a whole new FCS under development.

1. Make 2 dev builds - one "traditional" and one to test out your custom decal application.

Sure, that would work. Work up the textures how you want, keep all the decals on a separate Photoshop layer, and we'll take it from there.

2. Mad thought - this stems off the technique shown by Petar Jedvaj where different livery selections bring up or remove parts of the model (see RAH66 Comanche). How different is the Tranche 2? Is it only fuselage shape? I wonder if it is possible to switch that out dependent on livery selection?

It is certainly possible to switch the whole fuselage out, but probably not a very good idea. As far as I know, there isn't much change to the fuselage in Tranche 2 and 3, except for conformal fuel tanks which would be easy to add on as part of the livery select. This technique, incidentally, had already been tried and tested on the Typhoon - Almursi coded up a method where different external light configurations were available dependent on the country of the livery and its aviation regulations. The decals idea mentioned above would also have to use this technique to be effective.

I think with the Victor I'd prefer to have separate -set.xml files for different configs, i.e. B2/K2/Fantasy EK2 as the differences are more than just skin deep.
